Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026 · Version 2026-10-06
The short version
- We collect what you give us (your account details, your home, its inventory, maintenance and history) and what's needed to run NestKey (like billing status). Nothing more.
- We use it to run NestKey for you. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
- We share it only with service providers that help run NestKey (hosting, database, payments, email, image reading), and with the people you choose to share it with.
- NestKey doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- You can see, correct, download, or delete your information. Just ask at support@nestkey.com.
This summary is for convenience. The full policy below is what applies.
1. Who we are
NestKey, LLC ("NestKey", "we", "us") is a Utah limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information when you use the NestKey website at nestkey.com, the NestKey web app, and related services (the "Service"). It's part of our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form; we can never see it), and account type (Homeowner, NestKey Pro, or Realtor), plus the date you agreed to our Terms.
- Business information (NestKey Pros and Realtors): business or agency name, profession, service area, phone number, bio, payment link, and license number if you add one.
- Home information: your home's address, type, year built, square footage, and notes.
- Inventory: the items you add, such as names, categories, rooms, purchase dates, prices, warranty dates, model and serial numbers, barcodes, and notes.
- Maintenance and service requests: your maintenance tasks and dates, and the requests you send to or receive from NestKey Pros.
- Home history: repairs, replacements, and renovations you record, such as dates, costs, contractors, warranty dates, and notes, plus any photos and documents you attach (like invoices, permits, and warranty certificates). Photos are re-saved when you upload them, which removes hidden location data. When a NestKey Pro marks your request complete, it is added to your home history with the Pro's business name.
- Realtor listings and gifts: listing addresses, the inventory and home history (with any photos and documents) a Realtor builds for a listing, and the email address of the buyer it's gifted to.
- Photos you scan: receipts, appliance labels, barcodes, and room photos you choose to scan (see "Photos and scanning" below).
- Messages to us: anything you send when you email us.
Information collected when you use NestKey
- Billing information: your plan, subscription status, and renewal date. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure pages and handled by Stripe; NestKey never sees or stores your full card number.
- Technical information: like nearly every website, our hosting and security providers automatically receive basic information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, which is kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
- Information saved in your browser: NestKey keeps you logged in using your browser's storage, and remembers small conveniences there (such as the insurance broker or realtor you last sent a report to). This stays on your device.
We don't knowingly collect sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or health information. Please don't enter it in NestKey.
3. Photos and scanning
When you scan a photo, it is sent securely to our image-reading provider, Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI models), to read the details and send them back to you. NestKey saves only the details you choose to keep; we don't store the photo itself. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this information to train its models. Barcode and QR code scanning happens on your own device.
4. How we use information
- to provide NestKey: store your home records, read scans, show maintenance reminders, create calendar files, create reports, and connect homeowners with NestKey Pros;
- to run your account and subscription, including free trials, billing, and the "Manage billing" page;
- to send service emails, such as confirming your email address, resetting your password, and important notices about your account or our Terms;
- to keep NestKey secure and working, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems;
- to improve NestKey (for example, understanding which features are used); and
- to comply with the law and enforce our Terms.
We don't currently send marketing emails. If we start, every one will include an easy way to unsubscribe.
5. Who can see your information
Inside NestKey
- Your home, inventory, maintenance, and home history records are private to your account.
- NestKey Pro profiles (business name, profession, service area, phone number, bio, and payment link) are shown in the directory to signed-in NestKey members. A Pro's email address isn't shown in the directory.
- Service requests: when a homeowner sends a request, the Pro sees the request and the homeowner's name and email address so they can follow up.
- Realtor gifts: when a Realtor gifts a listing, the buyer who claims it receives the listing's address, inventory, and home history, including copies of its photos and documents.
When you choose to share
When you download a report, add tasks to your calendar, or email your inventory to an insurance broker or realtor, that information goes where you send it and is then handled under that recipient's or service's own policies. If you use Send now, NestKey emails the report (with your name, email address and message) to the address you enter, through our email provider. Replies go straight to you, and you receive a copy. NestKey does not keep the report or the recipient's address, except that your browser remembers the contact you last used on that device so you don't have to type it again.
Service providers
We use trusted companies to run NestKey. They process information only on our behalf and for these purposes:
| Provider | What they do for NestKey | Where |
| Supabase | Database, secure logins, and private file storage | Canada |
| Render | Hosting for the website and app | United States |
| Stripe | Payments, subscriptions, and billing pages | United States |
| Anthropic | Reading scanned photos | United States |
| Resend | Sending NestKey's account emails, and reports you choose to send | United States |
| Google | Our business email (when you write to us), and the fonts used on our pages | United States |
Our pages also load a few standard code libraries from public content networks (cdnjs and jsDelivr), which receive basic technical information such as your IP address when your browser downloads them.
Other times we may share information
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of NestKey, our members, or others.
- Business changes: if NestKey is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy will continue to protect it.
- With your permission.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
6. Cookies and tracking
NestKey doesn't use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or tracking pixels. We use your browser's storage only to keep you logged in and to remember small preferences. Because we don't track you across other websites, we don't change our practices in response to "Do Not Track" signals.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and home records within 30 days, except for information we must keep for legal, tax, or accounting reasons (such as billing records, which Stripe also keeps) or to resolve disputes. Copies in our providers' routine backups are removed as those backups expire. Server logs are kept only for a limited time.
8. How we protect information
All connections to NestKey are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only in hashed form, database access rules keep each account's records separate, and secret keys are kept off your device and out of our code. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
9. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- see the personal information we have about you;
- correct information that's wrong (you can also edit most of it yourself in the app);
- download your information (your inventory is always available as a PDF or spreadsheet in the app); or
- delete your account and personal information.
Email support@nestkey.com from the address on your account. We'll confirm it's you and respond within 30 days. Some states give residents additional rights; we'll honor them as the law requires, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
10. Children
NestKey is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Where information is stored
NestKey is a U.S. business for U.S. users. Our database is located in Canada, and our other providers operate in the United States, so your information is stored and processed in those countries.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as NestKey grows. If we make a material change, we'll let you know (for example, by email or a notice in the app) before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date above always shows the latest version.
